Top 10 Outside venues for Events in Hertfordshire!

Updated: Aug 8, 2020

Now that the music industry is getting back a little normality I thought we would look into our top 10 venues that have beautiful scenery for outside events. With it proving to be a scorching summer for outside events I fully intend to take advantage of the August offers for eating out in these venues.

  1. Ye Olde Fighting Cocks

This idyllic pub was built in the 11th Century and is one of the oldest public house in the country. Under the grounds are tunnels stretching from the beer cellar to St Albans Cathedral and it is thought that these were used by monks seeking earthly delights. So not only can I have a lovely cold beer, but my inner geek goes nuts as well!

2. The Prae Wood Arms

I love the spacious green garden, perfect for a live music event as it has plenty of room for social distancing. Also ideal for a wedding reception in the future. This beautiful venue also in St Albans is part of the ‘ Eat out Scheme’. By the looks of the menu, it is a culinary delight.

3. The Coach and Horses

This beautiful venue in Newgate Street Village is where we have hosted outdoor events recently including the talented Saxophonist Saxman Diggle. It has ample space to relax and enjoy socially distanced events with friendly staff and amazing Thai food, who doesn’t love Thai food?!

4. The Fisherman

This beautiful pub in Fishers Green on the edge of Stevenage with a well deserved Trip Adviser rating of 4.5 not only has a beautiful garden and views of the countryside but also great food. When we get beyond the restrictions it’s a superb place to host a party too.

5.The priory

My favorite venue in Hitchin. I have attended various events over the years, from birthday parties to weddings. The staff have a high attention to detail in regards to the decorations and the staff are always eager to help. They even have a Marquee available for some events and the acoustics are amazing. Set in a wonderful piece of greenbelt land losing yourselves with a gorgeous view and a cold drink.

6.The Chequers Inn

This delightful venue in Woolmer Green, has a menagerie in the garden that boasts guinea pigs, birds and Marmoset monkeys too, it’s a great place for the whole family. Their Salt and Pepper Calamari and Sunday roast are my favourite dishes to order. They have delicious vegetarian options too.

7.The George and Dragon

This beautiful gem of a public house in Gravely has a modern garden backing on to natural meadows and a river. The service is great and even the social distance etiquette doesn’t diminish the quality. While sitting in the spacious garden I guarantee that the smell of the food will make your mouth water your mouth water. Even the British weather wont dampen your time here with plenty of umbrellas if it starts to rain.

8.The White Lion

The White Lion is a delightful beamed pub with a garden that enjoys beautiful scenery, it also boasts a children’s play area. The pub has recently come under new management and is already receiving great food reviews. Friendly staff, a recommended place to eat and dog friendly too.

9.Speckled Hen

Another idyllic venue in St Albans, The Speckled Hen was recently renovated is well known for its food and super friendly service. A Red-brick tavern offering familiar English pub fare at reasonable prices, an extensive selection of beers, wines & cocktails, with spacious and comfortable garden seating makes this a great place to meet family and friends..

We have hosted many events here and look forward to hosting many more.

10. The Fox

Last but definitely not least The Fox in Willian. This really is a hidden gem, off the beaten track in the hamlet of Willian it offers a tranquil retreat from the pace of modern life. It is a rosette winning gastro-pub that also offers first rate accommodation and fine dining. It is listed in the 2020 Michelin Guide and the Good Pub Guide.
